Lupita Nyong'o joins forces with WildAid

30 06 2015

12 Years A Slave actress Lupita Nyong'o has partnered with WildAid to become a global ambassador for elephants, campaigning with the organisation to bring an end to the ivory trade.

The announcement was made as Nyong'o returned to her native Kenya, visiting Amboseli National Park with the Amboseli Trust for Elephants and the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust's elephant orphanage. She commented 'I have come to realise that when you know more, you do more. I want to encourage people all over the world to learn more about these incredible animals... I ask the world to end the current elephant poaching crisis by being 'Ivory Free'. It is time to ban sales of ivory worldwide and to consign the tragedy of the ivory trade to history'.
